Greening the OR isn’t just about patching a problem, it’s about digging into the way we do things to discover the source of our negative impacts. With a scientific approach and a deep curiosity, we began to study what happens in the OR during a surgery to find the parts that could be changed to improve our hospital’s environmental footprint. Practice Greenhealth and Greening the OR have been a great source of information and connection, giving us background and focus. We hope that with our research, such as determining how much and what type of waste we’re generating in the OR, we might be able, in turn, to help members of Greening the OR truly change their environmental footprint.
